No time in history was truly innocent. Yet in the early 1900’s, at that time and at that place, daily life was much simpler and generally free of the fears and complications that define modern existence. The comfortable simplicity of that time was shattered on a hot July day in 1910.
The murder of a young Janie Sharp and the ensuing trials and murders made national headlines, split a community for the better part of the 20th century and produced one of the most celebrated court cases in Mississippi history. Publicly, her murder and those of the others remain unresolved to this day. |
